- Once an animator at Disney Studios, Nicolas Keramidas now makes a living as a cartoonist in Grenoble. He's married to a wonderful woman, Chloé, has two energetic sons, and plays soccer every Sunday with his pals. He was also born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare combination of four heart defects that in 1973 made him one of the youngest children ever to undergo open-heart surgery. Forty-three years later, when his congenital condition stops him short during a soccer game, he'll have to face surgery again, a saga he details in this moving, humorous, and above all, very human memoir.
Nicolas Keramidas first earned his Baccalauréat (French high school diploma) in illustration in Grenobles, France, before he obtained his diploma in animation from the Gobelins School in Paris. In 1993, he started working for the Disney Studios of Montreuil while doing advertising work for the city of Grenobles. At the end of 2000, Nicolas submitted a project to the publisher Soleil featuring the character of 'Luuna,' a young girl living during the prehistorical era. But then he met Didier Crisse and together they made 'Luuna' become a young Native American, thus creating Nicolas's first series, published by Soleil. Today, the series of 'Luuna' counts seven books. With Arleston, Nicolas created 'Tykko des sables,' a series of three volumes also published by Soleil. Then he worked on a book from the series 'Donjon' written by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim, published by Delcourt. In 2012, with Tebo, he launched the trilogy 'Alice au pays des singes' published by Glénat. 'A Coeur Ouvert' (Open-Hearted) is his first book published by Dupuis (Europe Comics in English, 2021).
